What is RTP and how is it calculated?
Return To Player — the long-run % of bets paid back to players. A 96% RTP slot returns $96 per $100 wagered over millions of spins.
Definition
RTP = Return To Player. The theoretical percentage of total wagered money returned to players over an extremely large sample of bets.
A 96% RTP slot returns, on average, $96 for every $100 wagered, calculated over millions of spins. The casino edge ("house edge") is the remaining 4%.
What RTP does NOT mean
- ❌ "I'll get back 96% of every $100 I bet today" — short-term variance dominates
- ❌ "After 100 spins, I should be at 96% return" — a small sample has huge swings
- ❌ "If a slot's RTP is 96% and I'm down 50%, it's 'due'" — past spins do not affect future spins (gambler's fallacy)
RTP is a long-run statistical average. Short-term, you can win 1000% of your stake or lose 100%. Both outcomes are perfectly compatible with a 96% RTP slot — variance is the engine that makes the game interesting.
Typical RTP ranges
| Game type | Typical RTP | |-----------|-------------| | Slots (modern, branded) | 94–97% | | Slots (high-roller exclusives) | 96–98.5% | | Blackjack (basic strategy) | 99.4–99.7% | | Baccarat (banker bet) | 98.94% | | European Roulette (single zero) | 97.30% | | American Roulette (double zero) | 94.74% | | Originals (Crash, Plinko) | 99.0–99.5% | | Live Dragon Tiger | 96.27% |
Where to see RTP on Cinoslots
Each game's detail page shows the RTP prominently. Some providers offer multiple RTP versions (e.g. Pragmatic's Sweet Bonanza ships at 88%, 94%, 96.5%) — Cinoslots always lists the highest available version of every game we host. We don't run cut-down versions to pad our edge.
Volatility vs RTP
Two slots can both be 96% RTP yet feel very different. The difference is volatility — how often the wins come and how big they are. See volatility explained.
Audited RTP
Our slot RTP figures are audited by iTech Labs quarterly (sample size: 10 million simulated spins per game). Our originals' RTP is provably fair — see how provably fair works.
Will Cinoslots ever lower a game's RTP?
No. We commit publicly to running every game at the highest RTP version the provider offers. If a provider releases a higher-RTP variant, we upgrade within 30 days.
Final note
RTP is a long-run statistic. Bankroll management, stake sizing and walking away when ahead matter more than chasing high-RTP titles for any specific session.

What does game volatility mean?
How frequent and how big the wins are. Low = many small wins, high = rare but big. RTP can be identical across volatility levels.
How does provably fair gaming work?
Server seed + your client seed + nonce = SHA-256 hash. You can verify every result was determined before you bet.
Is there a maximum win amount on a single spin?
Yes — caps vary by game. Most modern slots cap at 5,000–25,000× stake; Cinoslots Originals have no cap; live tables have table-specific caps.
