Why does my deposit address change sometimes?

Bitcoin uses fresh addresses per deposit for privacy. Old addresses still work and credit your account.

Why fresh addresses?

For BTC and LTC, our wallet generates a new address for each deposit by default. This is standard for privacy — chain-analysis firms can less easily map your deposit history if you don't reuse addresses.

For EVM chains (ETH, USDT ERC20, USDC, BNB, BEP20), your address stays the same forever — the protocol simply works that way. Memo/tag isn't used.

For TRON (USDT TRC20, TRX), your address also stays the same.

Old BTC/LTC addresses still work

If you bookmarked an old BTC deposit address from us, don't worry — sending to it still credits your account. We monitor every address ever generated for you, indefinitely. The "new address every visit" UI is a privacy convenience; the old ones never stop working.

Best practice: refresh before each deposit

Even though old addresses work, generating a fresh one before each new deposit is the cleanest approach. The deposit page does this for you automatically every time you visit.

What if I see a completely different format address?

If your usual BTC address starts with bc1q... and suddenly shows bc1p... (Taproot), that's just our wallet rotating to a newer address type. Both work fine; both credit you. Same for legacy 1... vs SegWit 3... vs native SegWit bc1... — all credit instantly.

Suspicious changes

If the address you see in the UI is dramatically different from what you expected (e.g. wrong coin format), stop and refresh. Then contact support if it still looks wrong. Address-swap malware exists in the browser ecosystem — protecting against it:

  • Always verify the first 4 + last 4 characters match between the deposit page and your wallet's "send to" field.
  • Use a hardware wallet for deposits over $1,000 — addresses are verified on the device screen, not the host browser.
